Though it was a tough weekend, Mom managed to laugh her way through most of it, especially when the kids were around her. She is pictured with Abbie, her eldest grandchild. When I remember, through the midst of this all, that my mother is a happy person, I\u2019m so joyful.<\/p>\n<p>Mom went to the doctor on Friday, which was an adventure of its own (and a story for another day). Mom has started limping and it is hard to discern if it is her foot or her knee. At the same\u00a0time, she is having a hard time going down the stairs (going up is not as difficult) and she is more distracted than usual.\u00a0The doctor ordered a CAT scan of Mom\u2019s brain and a follow-up\u00a0consultation with a neurologist. This is never good news.<\/p>\n<p>We are taking it a day at a time, but it\u2019s not easy. \u00a0According to the Alzheimer\u2019s Association, there are <a title=\"7 phases of Alzheimer's Disease \" href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20161015160549\/http:\/\/www.alz.org\/alzheimers_disease_stages_of_alzheimers.asp?gclid=CJzX25Hl07gCFchDMgodEzMAhg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">seven phases of Alzheimer\u2019s disease<\/a>.
