Isn’t today’s picture sweet?! Though it was a tough weekend, Mom managed to laugh her way through most of it, especially when the kids were around her. She is pictured with Abbie, her eldest grandchild. When I remember, through the midst of this all, that my mother is a happy person, I’m so joyful.
Mom went to the doctor on Friday, which was an adventure of its own (and a story for another day). Mom has started limping and it is hard to discern if it is her foot or her knee. At the same time, she is having a hard time going down the stairs (going up is not as difficult) and she is more distracted than usual. The doctor ordered a CAT scan of Mom’s brain and a follow-up consultation with a neurologist. This is never good news.
We are taking it a day at a time, but it’s not easy. According to the Alzheimer’s Association, there are seven phases of Alzheimer’s disease. We have been in the later phases for some time now and it terrifies us.
